Paisley Beer Festival is back for the 24th year running! The hugely popular event returns to the Town Hall for 4 days (starting on Wednesday the 27th April 2011) when approximately 5000 people are expected to turn up eager to try out the vast range of beers on offer. Last year 20,000 pints of beer and cider were consumed over the 4 days. This year, the festival falls on the same week as the Royal Wedding so it’s a great chance to make use of that extra day off!
Run solely by roughly 60 CAMRA volunteers, the festival takes many months to organise and set up. This year will feature approximately 170 different draught beers from all over the UK, as well as various foreign beers, cider, perry and mead. This year the “English Bar” will feature beers from North East and Greater Manchester area – and there may even be some special edition “Royal Ales” on offer!. In the “Scottish Bar” local produce will be available to try from the Barrhead-based Kelburn Brewery and the Houston Brewery, amongst others. There will also be food on offer, provided by the ever-popular Melbourne Catering Co who will serve up delicious German sausages and French crepes to soak up the beer!
Entertainment will be provided on the Friday evening by local band “The Skunnered” and the Caledonian Pipe Band will be returning on the Saturday to play intermittently throughout the day.
Entry costs £5 (£3 concession on Wed/Thurs) and includes a festival glass and program. This also allows free re-entry on subsequent days (as long as you bring the glass along).
Festival Organiser, Stuart Wallace, said "Paisley is the biggest and best beer festival in Scotland, and this year will be no exception"
