Good, better, Kürzer - tasting Altbeer in Düsseldorf
I took the train down to Düsseldorf to meet a good friend. We met at Heinrich-Heine-Allee and went to the Kürzer Brewery (interview will follow), the latest micro-brewery in Düsseldorf. They are serving Alt - What else might you expect in Düsseldorf?
Their Alt comes with a very malty character. It goes down easy and leaves only the thirst for more behind. The foam is stable. The bitterness not emphasized too much. The body is full but not too strong. Actually it’s a well-balanced beer made for the enthusiast.
I have been to nearly all other breweries in Düsseldorf by now and tasted all the different Alts. The Kürzer Alt can compete with all of them. The differences between the Alt beers in Düsseldorf are only distinguishable for an expert. I’m not yet one. Sooner or later I might become one. And that’s’ what we do: A blind tasting with all in bottles available Düsseldorf Alt beers. This blind tasting setup will take a while but this is the best thing to do.
The beer was poured from a keg.
