Munichs finest - Edelstoff by Augustiner

Edelstoff

The Augustiner brewery is the oldest brewery in Munich. That’s what stated on their crates. Their Edelstoff beer is something special. It’s a Helles (Export) having a portion of by Augustiner malted malt. I haven’t had one since a long time and I’m very happy to write a review today.

The white foam stays for a long time on a gold top. The foam stability is excellent. My first impression from the smell: A little yeast with malt; never the less: pure. The nice hop oils goes with the light bitterness very well. It gives good mouth fullness while staying balanced with the alcohol. Carbonation is perfect.

Augustiner Edelstoff is what you would expect from a Helles (Export) and much more. Basically I consider it the king in this section. If you ever have the possibilities take the tour at the brewery. It’s one of the few chances to see a floor malting.
