Lautering.net - Tasting - Neumarkter Lammsbräu Gluten

My first glutenfree beer - Neumarkter Lammsbräu Glutenfrei

Neumarkter Lammsbräu Glutenfrei

Gluten free beer is free of the wheat / rye / barley protein gluten (or nearly free – gluten free means below 20 ppm gluten) and its parts gliadin or glutenin. It is therefore digestible by persons who suffer from Celiac disease.
There are some breweries around producing gluten free beer - Lautering.net hosts a list of gluten free beers sorted by country.

We all know that Gluten free beer is something special because it is made out of rice, maize, millet, or other gluten low grains. The most used one is sorghum. The one I’m reviewing here uses barley malt. I think they produce this beer using some kind of enzymatic degradation but I can’t tell for sure.

Gluten free probably doesn’t adhere to our tasting pattern and it might therefore be difficult to classify these beers correctly.

The Neumarkter Lammsbräu Glutenfrei tastes funny. It has good mouth fullness, different form what I’m used to, with a dry, bitter, metallic taste while it smells like nuts & yeast.

I'll have to taste some other gluten free beers before I can tell if this is a decent one. From the pilsen type of view this is a well produced pilsen beer.
