no foam doesnt mean no points - Saimaan Luostari Dubbel
Saimaan Luostari Dubbel
I like foam, I really do. Good foam, especially head retention combined with a well balanced body, needs a good brewer and good ingredients to show up. If a beer has no good head retention I usually give one point less – head retention is a quality criteria but also depends on the beer style.
I poured in a small glass full and: The Saimaan had no foam at all! Check to photo to see what I mean. Ok, I thought about tasting another beer but gave it try anyway. Oh man, It was fruity in smell. The wave of smell also brought citron and pear to my nose. Sour smell goes along with sour taste. And thats what it tasted: sour, acidic, bitter, like cinnamon, and of course yeast. The sour taste is very pleasant and come with a light sweetness.
It's a well balanced beer but probably nothing special. In the beginning I was disappointed in the end a little bit relaxed.
The beer was poured from a bottle
