UnKlar Kellerpils brewed by Ankerbräu Nördlingen

why unclear isn't unklar.

UnKlar Kellerpils

the unKlar is merchandised as an unfiltered, unbundged cellar Pils. unKlar is play on words. unKlar is German for "not obvious" but also referrers to something that is not clear, hence it is unfiltered.

Without that in mind I poured the light golden beer into a glass and took a first nip. It's clearly unbundged, comes with a strong malty, even little caramel, taste in the beginning and bitter hoppy ending. Sometimes the bitterness reminds me of yeast and not of hopes. Anyway the malty character is dominant and in combination with an unbundged storage makes it an easy consumable beer.

From my point of view it is a filtered beer - definitely not unfiltered as it is advertised. From a Pils I expect a hoppier character. I'd like to put it in another category: Helles.

The unKlar is an easy to drink party beer - far away from what I expect from a Pils.
