W.Du., a.k.a. Weizen Dunkel, a.k.a. "Vùdù

I've learned that when I taste a B.I. beer for the very first time, I mustn't think of the style indicated by the name, because I find myself with a product that is difficult to classify, which is what promptly happened with Vùdù. Vùdù is an original B.I. creation, with a lovely deep amber, slightly cloudy color. It has a nice brownish head that is not as thick as in a typical Weizen Dunkel, but it is well structured and sticks to the sides of the glass. It has a subtle mallow and stronger violet aroma, with a pleasant hint of cooked fruit (apple and especially pear), a slight hint of banana and very appropriate citric taste, even if very subtle, due to the use of grain. The flavor is a balance between a distinct but not overbearing roasted malt and a harmonious but never dominating fruity essence (toffee, nuts and a touch of ripe banana). The slightly bitter aftertaste has a delightful peppery touch.
